14 Cranbrook Schools icons retire this year after 400 collective years of service.

Cranbrook Schools Annual Fund

This spring, 14 amazing faculty and staff members are retiring after a collective 400 years of service to Cranbrook Schools.

All our faculty are amazing. But, during this pandemic they have been simply extraordinary, greeting students at drop off, taking temperatures, cleaning desks, serving lunch daily in their classrooms. And doing it all with care and common purpose.

Through every challenge, especially this year, the faculty has never failed to strive, to adapt, and to remain unfailingly committed to their students.

No matter how the world might change, our faculty's dedication to educating our students will not. Our faculty teach in a deeply caring and connected manner, which we believe is the foundation of meaningful learning and critical to student well-being.

Please consider a tribute gift to Cranbrook School’s Annual Fund in honor of a current or retiring faculty or staff member, without whom Cranbrook's return to in-person instruction this school year would have been impossible.

“I would not to be the person I am today without the relationships I had with my teachers. Today several of my former teachers have become mentors and friends.”
Pamela Applebaum ’83,
Vice Chair, Schools Board of Governors
Trustee, Cranbrook Educational Community

“Our school’s faculty are the heart and soul of Cranbrook.  In my 9 years as President, as I have traveled across the nation to meet with our alumni, the one common thread that all these reunions and conversations center on is the relationship former students had with their faculty.”
Dominic DiMarco
President, Cranbrook Educational Community

“You teach community values, humility, responsibility, selflessness, compassion, teamwork, effort, camaraderie, appreciation and love.  You teach subjects to help them be an incredible student, but you teach everything else to help them develop into an incredible human being.”
Sidhdharth D. Sheth
Chair, Schools Board of Governors
Trustee, Cranbrook Educational Community

“As a parent, as a family, we watched (we experienced) firsthand as you showed up, you gave of yourself at this extraordinary time and because of that, each day we saw our daughter and other children get so much more than just an education, they received your care and your commitment and I dare say, your love for each of them as a person as a member of your(our) Cranbrook family.”
Kevin Browett
Treasurer, Schools Board of Governors
Trustee, Cranbrook Educational Community

“In my 46 years of Cranbrook I’ve never seen a more challenging teaching environment.  Yet, you persevered, you persisted, and you provided the same inspiration, challenge and caring that meant so much to me during my time at Kingswood.”
Deborah Wahl ‘81
Secretary, Schools Board of Governors
Trustee, Cranbrook Educational Community
